“Go to the people. Live with them. Learn from them. Love them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. When the work is done, the task accomplished, the people will say 'We have done this ourselves.’”  Lao Tzu

What we do

The Rafiki Collection works with communities across Kenya and South Africa who create stylish handmade designs that capture authentic cultural practices with a western twist. We work directly with artisans to help promote ethical workmanship through local employment.

The Story

After finishing school in 2016 Daisy spent two months traveling around Kenya. Little did she know then that a country she had no connection with would become such an influential part of her life. Being naturally drawn to people she was fascinated by the diversity, history and culture of the country, she immediately appreciated the local craftsmanship shown. Introducing products to her friends back home and receiving great feedback has led her to expand from a 'show and tell' of souvenirs into The Rafiki Collection. Daisy visits Kenya once a year to maintain a close relationship with the communities and to find new products to sell.

Being able to work with small communities who are in need of employment (especially after Covid-19) is very important and we are currently sustaining nearly 100 artisans and this number will continue to grow as we do!
